MUS. Instrument dont le registre est plus aigu que celui du soprano. Saxophones, famille complète d'instruments inventée vers 1845 par M. Ad. Sax (elle comprend un sopranino, un soprano, un alto, un ténor, un baryton et une basse) (GEVAERT, Instrument., 1885, p. 9). Clarinette, depuis la clarinette sopranino en la bémol jusqu'à la clarinette-contrebasse (Arts et litt., 1935, p. 38-12).
